The Historic Churches of Fredericksburg
by Civil War author & historian Michael Aubrecht
A PDF version and a printable flyer version of this announcement are available as well.
Fredericksburg is oft referred to as the “City of churches” at the “Crossroads of the Civil War.” In this presentation we will hear perspectives of local people, believers and non-believers, all colors and denominations who collectively witnessed our nations “Great Divide” from differing perspectives.
Using a variety of source materials and images, this lecture recalls stories of rebellion, racism and reconstruction as experienced by secessionists, unionists and African-Americans at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), St. Georges Episcopal Church, Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church and Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.
Historian Michael Aubrecht is a dynamic speaker and the author of numerous books and articles on the Civil War. Our speaker will be available for questions and to sign reduced price copies of his books at a reception following the lecture.
