Children's Sermon

During the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship services, children of the church are invited to come to the front of the Sanctuary to listen to a special message.  This message is delivered so that children (and adults) can gain a simpler, basic understanding of scriptural principles.

ACOLYTES

We have a great group of acolytes serve at our 11:00 a.m. worship service.  They are an integral part of our worship experience. We value their participation.

Sunday School

Sunday School classes meet from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning.  Age graded classes include children from 2 years of age through 5th grade.

Every Sunday, the kindergarten through fifth graders will begin in the Sanctuary during the 9:30 a.m. service.  They will be dismissed to their Sunday school class after a message for young Christians.

Christmas Pageant

Each year our children present a highly entertaining and meaningful musical drama on Christmas Eve. These performances are a blessing to young and old alike!

Church Picnic

SPC hosts a church picnic for all members and friends of the church each year in the fall.  A primary focus is for the children to enjoy a fun time and excellent "picnic food," and for adults to meet new people and enjoy fellowship.  Adults volunteer to organize classic picnic games, carnival-type activities, and other enjoyable events.  A fun, family fellowship event!

Communicants Class

The Communicants Class is offered to students in 2nd through 5th fifth grades.  In this class, the child learns the true meaning of Communion in our church.  At completion of the class, the students have a Seder dinner that teaches the children about several Jewish Biblical foods and customs.  The Seder meal is on Palm Sunday.  The culmination of the class is the child's first communion on Maundy Thursday.  Contact Jan to participate.

Churchill & Phil come to visit to teach a Bible story

Kids 4 Christ Club:  PASSPORT TO ADVENTURE!

On Wednesday nights during the school year, we have an energetic, fun club for children in kindergarten through 5th grades.  Our age appropriate groups rotate through four centers:  Mighty Message, Daily Choice, Music & Motion, and Gym Time, focusing on one Bible lesson a night.  The kids memorize a Bible memory verse once a month.  There is also a preschool class and a nursery offered on Wednesday nights.  Come join us!  We meet from 6:30-7:45 p.m.

The W.A.Y. (Worship Adventure for You)

After the Children's Sermon during the 11:00 a.m. worship service, children 3 years old through 5th grade make their way down to the Children's Wing to participate in the W.A.Y. ministry.  Children participate in age-specific groups for Bible lessons, activities, object talks, and worship experiences.

GIGGLE girls: Girls In God's Grace Loving Each Other

A GREAT group just for girls in 4th and 5th grades. This group meets on the first and third Sundays of each month from 6:00-7:00 p.m. during the school year.  Our purpose is to bring Christ into every phase of a girls' life, so that she may attain social and spiritual maturity, and develop her abilities for Christian leadership.  Pictured:  girls decorate bandanas for children in the Oncology Wing at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
