Children's Choir
The Children's Choir, ages 3 through second grade, meets every week during a small portion of the Sunday school time. Children sing periodically in worship, to rave reviews!
Children's Sermon
During the 8:15 and 11:15 Sunday worship services, children of the church are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary to listen to a special message. This message is delivered so that children (and adults) can gain a simpler, basic understanding of scriptural principles.
Sunday School
Sunday School classes meet from 9:45 to 10:45 each Sunday morning. Age graded classes include children from 2 years of age through 5th grade.
Christmas Musical
Each year our children present a highly entertaining and meaningful musical drama during the Christmas season. Weekly practices commence in November with the performance on Christmas Eve at the early family service. These performances are a blessing to young and old alike!
Church Picnic
SPC hosts a church picnic for all members and friends of the church. Usually held in late spring or early fall at the church, a primary focus is for the children to enjoy a fun time and excellent "picnic food." Adults volunteer to organize classic picnic games, carnival-type activities and other enjoyable events. A fun, family fellowship event!
Communicants Class
The Communicants Class is offered to students in second through fifth grades. In this class, the child learns the true meaning of Communion in our church. At completion of the class, the students have a Seder dinner that teaches the children about several Jewish biblical foods and customs. The culmination of the class is the child's first communion on Maundy Thursday.
Kids 4 Christ Club
On Wednesday nights during the school year, we have an energetic, fun club for children in kindergarten through fifth grades. Our age appropriate groups rotate through four centers: Mighty Message, Let's Create, Message in Motion, and Gym Time, focusing on one Bible lesson a night. The kids memorize a Bible memory verse once a month. There is also a preschool class and a nursery offered on Wednesday nights.
Kids Praise!
Children age 3 to 5th grade participate in our Kids Praise! time on Wednesday nights after the family meal and before Kids 4 Christ Club. This is a time that children can praise God with music, song and movement.
Vacation Bible School: July 21-25, 2008
SPC offers Vacation Bible School for children ages 5 through 5th grade for a one-week session every July. VBS runs from 9:00 AM to Noon, Monday through Friday, with a closing program on Friday evening. No cost. Registration a must.
The W.A.Y. (Worship Adventure for You)
After the Children's Sermon during the 11:15 AM worship service, children 3 years old through 5th grade are included in the W.A.Y. ministry. Children participate in age-specific groups for Bible lessons, activities, object talks and worship experiences.
SPorts Camp: June 16-19, 2008
This year we will host our 3rd annual SPorts Camp. Sports Camp is for rising 4th through rising 7th graders. Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon daily. Campers may choose from either basketball or soccer. Cost: $30.00 Pre-registration a must.
GIGGLE girls: Girls In God's Grace Loving Each other
A new group has formed for girls in 4th and 5th grades. This group meets on the first and third Sundays of each month from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. during the school year. Our purpose is to bring Christ into every phase of a girls' life, so that she may attain social and spiritual maturity, and develop her abilities for Christian leadership.
