Crazy Love

Francis Chan

An "easy read" that will challenge your perception of God as well as your attitude toward worship. This book is currently at the center of discussion in our high school Sunday school class. If you'd like to know more about the book or Francis Chan visit www.crazylovebook.com.

Age of Opportunity: A Biblical Guide to Parenting Teens                                              Paul David Tripp

Do you view your kids' teenage years as a time of tremendous opportunity or something that you merely hope to survive? Tripp makes a compelling argument for the former rather than the latter and challenges parents to embrace their responsibilities as spiritual leaders for their kids. Don't worry, he's been there, done (and is doing) that, and offers plenty of practical advice.

The Gospel-Driven Life                                                                                                   Michael Horton

A compelling argument for keeping the main thing the main thing, Horton demonstrates that the church is often distracted from instead of focusing on the one unique thing it has to offer: the gospel of Jesus Christ. Clearly this is not a book about parenting or youth ministry. But it does offer tremendous insight into the relativistic and pluralist culture that Christian teens (and parents) find themselves immersed in without even realizing it.

Hooked: New Science on How Casual Sex is Affecting Our Children

by M.D. Joe S. McIlhaney Jr and M.D. Freda McKissic Bush

There are a lot of good reasons to avoid premarital sex, but this book cites a few more; ones that don't have anything to do with teen pregnancy, STDs, or religious convictions. In other words the authors use scientific study and observation to prove that it is virtually impossible for teens and young adults to "get away with" casual sex unscathed due to its impact upon neurological development. It's more proof that abstinence really is the only truly safe alternative.
